Connecting through the OMS gateway
As mentioned before, the OMS Gateway with SCOM support is finally out of preview and available.
I promised to describe in a seperate article how to configure the connection for a single agent as well as for a SCOM management group. That article now is finally here… Don’t expect too much though, as establishing a connection through the gateway is pretty much a piece of cake!
Make sure, that the Microsoft Management Agent (MMA) on the OMS Gateway server is configured to use the same workspace we want to use the proxy functionality for.
Connecting single OMS agents
From the control panel select System and Security > Microsoft Management Agent. Select the tab Proxy Settings. Select Use a proxy server and enter the your gateway server in the format http://<GatewayFQDN>:<Port>.
Afterwards on the Log Analytics (OMS) tab select Add and enter the correct workspace ID and key. After hitting apply your MMA will restart and connect to OMS through the gateway.
Connecting a SCOM Management Goup
Getting a SCOM management group to connect to OMS through a OMS gateway server is as simple as configuring a single MMA.
In the first step open Administration > Operations Management Suite > Connections. On this page select Configure proxy server. In the dialog box tick Use a proxy server to access the Operations Management Suite and enter the correct proxy address.
